The Special court for Prevention of Land Grabbing has sentenced the couple who seized the house by misusing the public power of attorney and sentenced them to 3 years imprisonment each. Aruna Venkataraman has registered a public power of attorney in the name of his friend Soundararajan from Mantaiveli to sell the house allotted to Aruna Venkataraman in the year 2005 to Kalyanasundara Raman in tamil Nadu Housing Board flats in Tiruvalluvar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai.

Kalyanasundara Raman has given the advance to Aruna Venkataraman. Soundararajan, who misused this public authority deed, fraudulently registered the house in the name of his wife instead of registering it in the name of Kalyana Sundararaman. Based on the complaint filed by Kalyana Sundararaman, the Thousand Lamps Central Crime Branch police registered a case of fraud of trust against Soundararajan and his wife.

Judge D. Rajeshraju of the Special court of Land Expropriation Division in Allikulam, Chennai, who heard the case, said that the charges against the accused couple had been proved and sentenced both of them to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of 10 thousand rupees each. In the order issued by the judge, Soundararajan should pay Rs. 1 crore and 9 lakh rupees as compensation to Kalyanasundararaman, who was cheated in this fraud, within a period of 3 months.
