Former MP and TTD Chairman Kanumuri Bapiraju opposed AP Government decision to step down as TTD Chairman immediately. Endowments Minister P. Manikyala Rao gave one week deadline for all Chairmen of Temples to step down. Responding to that Bapiraaju made a statement that he can’t step down as TTD Chairman and he welcomes new Governance Board if Government has appointed for TTD.
Bapiraju was appointed as TTD Chairman by during Congress Government. He felt very happy for getting this chance. Bapiraju tenure is nearing to the completion by the end of this month as Chairman of TTD. He met the CM CBN personally and requests him to continue till the end of his tenure. Bapiraaju was not permitted to meet CM second time by the Security Guards when CBN went to Tirumala second time.
Bapiraaju said that he welcomed new board. He didn’t go to courts to fight on Government decision. During his three years tenure, Bapiraaju has some differences with Former EO and JEO of TTD. VIP darshans would become problem during his tenure. There are allegations that TTD gave importance to VVIPs rather than ordinary devotees.
