A pro-Vidarbha state activist and journalist raised slogans regarding the problems of farmers in the press gallery of
Maharashtra assembly here on thursday during the house proceedings. Activist Prakash Pohre said that as a
representative of the farmers, he had reached the press gallery of the assembly, which is in its winter session in
Nagpur, to draw the attention of the house towards their problems. In a video, he was seen coming out of the press
gallery with the police raising slogans. Speaking to reporters outside the Vidhan Bhavan complex, Pohre justified
his action and said that no one was raising the issue of farmer suicides in Vidarbha and the eastern Maharashtra
region.

An investigation has been ordered in this matter. After this episode, bjp Chief Whip ashish Shelar raised this
issue in the house and also mentioned the security breach in the lok sabha on 13 December. Pohre said, he has
been coming to Vidhan Bhawan for the last 5 to 6 days, but there has been no mention of the issues related to the
area in the Legislature. Vidarbha MLAs are not raising important issues related to the region in the assembly or
Council. No one is raising the issue of farmer suicides or other problems in Vidarbha.
Raise these questions
As a representative of the farmers, I have come to draw the attention of the house towards their problems. Tupe,
who was monitoring the proceedings in the lower house, said that action would be initiated against those who
raised slogans from the press gallery of the assembly. bjp chief whip Shelar raised questions on security in the
Assembly and referred to Wednesday's incident in the lok sabha where two persons jumped down from the
audience gallery.
