On Independence Day, prime minister Narendra Modi unveiled the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), a ₹99,446 crore initiative aimed at boosting employment in India. This scheme, effective from august 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027, is designed to create 3.5 crore jobs, with 1.92 crore specifically for first-time job seekers.

Key Features:

- For Employees: First-time workers registered with the EPFO earning up to ₹1 lakh per month can receive up to ₹15,000 in two installments. The first is issued after 6 months of employment, and the second after 12 months, contingent on completing a financial literacy module.

- For Employers: Businesses that hire eligible new employees can receive incentives of up to ₹3,000 per month per new hire. Manufacturing firms can benefit for up to 4 years, while other sectors have a 2-year limit. Employers must hire a minimum number of additional staff based on their current workforce size.

Application Process:

For Employers:

1. Obtain an EPFO code from the Shram Suvidha Portal.

2. Register on the EPFO Employer Login Portal to access the PM-VBRY interface.

3. Hire new employees earning ≤ ₹1 lakh/month with Aadhaar-authenticated UANs.

4. Ensure timely submission of Electronic Challan cum Returns (ECR).

5. Maintain employment for at least 6 months to qualify for incentives.

6. Receive funds directly via DBT to your PAN-linked bank account every 6 months.

For Employees (First-Timers):

1. Join an EPFO-registered establishment after august 1, 2025, with wages ≤ ₹1 lakh/month.

2. Create a UAN using the UMANG app with face authentication, ensuring your bank account is Aadhaar-seeded.

3. Maintain employment for 6 months to receive the first installment via DBT.

4. Complete a financial literacy course and stay employed for 12 months for the second installment.

This ambitious initiative aims to modernize India's job market by promoting formal employment, enhancing financial security, and bridging the gap between employers and job seekers.
