Tamil Nadu chief minister M.K. Stalin reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening urban infrastructure by announcing that Metro rail projects will be implemented in Coimbatore and Madurai, two of the state’s rapidly growing cities. Speaking at a public event, the chief minister emphasized that these metropolitan areas are expanding at an unprecedented pace and require modern, efficient, and sustainable transport systems to support their future development.

Stalin stated that the introduction of Metro Rail is not merely a transportation upgrade but a transformative step aimed at improving quality of life, easing traffic congestion, reducing pollution, and encouraging economic growth. He highlighted that coimbatore and madurai are major hubs for industry, commerce, education, and tourism, and therefore must be equipped with advanced infrastructure comparable to global standards.

The chief minister added that the government has already initiated detailed project reports (DPRs) and feasibility studies, and is actively working with central agencies to expedite approvals and funding. Once completed, the Metro rail networks in these cities will provide seamless connectivity, support urban expansion, and attract further investments.
