Jenna Ortega discusses the online craze her dance scene on wednesday started, saying she had hoped it wouldn't become popular. Before watching the whole sequence in episode 4 of the Netflix series, "Woe What A Night," where Ortega's Addams Family character visited Nevermore Academy's school dance, viewers first saw a taste of the dance scene in the first teaser trailer. Following the airing of the programme, fans of the social media platform TikTok made quick video edits of the dance and attempted to duplicate the choreography.

In an interview with The Times, Ortega talked candidly about her career to date and shared her genuine thoughts on Wednesday's internet-shattering viral dance movement. The star revealed that while she first tried to have a positive reaction to the news that the dance had been embraced by audiences online, she ultimately felt that it would be better if that scene didn't take up most of the attention, admitting that she found viewers focusing so heavily on her choreography "disorienting".

She said, "No. They told me [it was going viral], and I tried to act excited about it by saying, "Oh, wow!" Yet, I was subconsciously hoping that nobody would give that part any thought. It makes you feel lost. I don't believe that having that many eyes on someone is in their natural design."
