Paralysed Man Makes First Tweet Ever Just By Thinking, Elon Musk Reacts

Earlier, Neuralink broadcasted a live stream featuring Noland Arbaugh playing online chess using only his mind

The world's first Neuralink patient, Noland Arbaugh, has created history by posting a tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter) 'just by thinking'. The 29-year-old became the first person to post a tweet using only his thoughts by using NeuralInk's cybernetic implant. X owner Elon Musk reacted to Arbaugh's tweet and said that it was the first ever post made by just thinking.

Arbaugh joked in his first tweet and wrote, "Twitter banned me because they thought I was a bot, X and Elon Musk."

Musk while replying to his tweet wrote, "First ever post made just by thinking, using the Neuralink Telepathy device!"

Arbaugh Plays Chess Using Telepathy

Previously, Neuralink broadcasted a live update featuring Arbaugh engaging in online chess using only his mind. During the live stream, Arbaugh demonstrated moving the cursor on a computer screen without relying on physical devices. He clarified that he accomplishes this by mentally visualizing the cursor's movement to guide it where he desires.

While referring to the game Civilization VI, he said, ''I had given up playing that game. You all (Neuralink) gave me the ability to do that again and played for 8 hours straight."

Around eighty years ago, Arbaugh sustained a spinal cord injury in a "freak diving accident." He was employed as a summer camp counselor for children when he experienced an accident in 2016 that resulted in quadriplegia. He mentioned that he was discharged from the hospital the next day after Neuralink treatment in January, which proceeded without issues. He noted that there is ongoing work needed to enhance and perfect the technology.
