A. vani Prasad, principal secretary for transport, and V. C. Sajjanar, managing director of telangana State Road Transport Corporation, botched the otherwise grand announcement of the maha Lakshmi free bus scheme for women, one of the Six Guarantees of the Congress, which rode to power in the recently held assembly elections.

Chief minister A. revanth reddy will unveil a policy that would allow women of all ages to travel for free on state-run bus services, including city bus services. However, the government order (GO) issued by vani Prasad with rules for the plan said that free travel in inter-state express inside state boundaries and Palle Velugu services will be permitted. There was no mention of city services, on which lakhs of women rely, prompting some women to resort to social media to express their concerns about the initiative.

Later, at a news conference, Sajjannar stated that the system was only applied to city ordinary, express, and metro trains, causing more uncertainty. When approached, Sajjannar blamed it on a clerical error in the main secretary's GO. He remained mute on whether the corporation's plans mentioned city services. Stay tuned for more updates.
