On april 24, 2025, demonstrations outside the indian High Commission building in Islamabad erupted as demonstrators voiced their anger at India's recent actions in the wake of the devastating terror incident in pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.

The situation immediately became tense, with some demonstrators attempting to scale the gates of the embassy enclave and others charging toward the building. To keep things under control and prevent any potential escalation, heavy security contingents were released.

India's Retaliatory Actions Spark Outrage
The protests come after india launched a slew of retaliatory measures in response to the pahalgam terror incident, one of the bloodiest in recent memory, which claimed the lives of 27 civilians.  Relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors are already strained after India's government accused militants based in pakistan of carrying out the attack.  India imposed restrictions on Pakistani nationals' travel, canceled the Indus Waters Treaty, and expelled Pakistani military advisers from its high commission in New delhi in retaliation for the pahalgam incident.

Escalating Tensions Along the Border
Significant disruption has already occurred on both sides of the border as a result of the growing military and political tensions. The government of pakistan has condemned India's action, and nationalist groups have used the occasion to demonstrate against what they perceive to be India's "aggressive" stance.  Pakistanis, who believe the indian government's action was unjustified, are furious about the pahalgam attack on civilians at a popular tourist area.

Security guards were seen patrolling the area around the High Commission, utilizing barricades, and pushing the people back. The demonstrators reportedly became increasingly outspoken and chanted anti-Indian chants, particularly in response to what they saw as "unprovoked actions" against Pakistan.
