Priyanka gandhi, the congress general secretary, was detained without a warrant. P. Chidambaram, a senior Congressman, has blasted Uttar Pradesh's complete breakdown of the rule of law. Several persons, including congress national secretary Priyanka gandhi and senior congress executive Deepender Hooda, were detained by police while on their way to Lakhimpur yesterday night to pay their respects to the families of the farmers killed in the violence.


P. Chidambaram, a senior Congressman, has criticised priyanka Gandhi's incarceration for breaking the law. According to his statement, priyanka Gandhi's detention in Sitapur and the facts surrounding the incident demonstrate that Uttar Pradesh lacks a complete rule of law.
