Authorities here opened two additional gates of the Himayat Sagar reservoir on saturday to let water into the musi river due to the massive floods that are still occurring. On Friday, two crest gates were opened to a height of two feet to let the extra water out.

The reservoir's gates were unlocked to release water for the first time this season. The twin reservoirs of Himayat Sagar and Osman Sagar continued to receive inflows during the course of the previous four days, according to the hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB). At midday on saturday, Himayat Sagar received 3,000 cusecs of water.


2,750 cusecs were being released by the authorities into Musi, a river that runs through the city. Himayat Sagar's water level is now at its Full Tank Level (FTL), which is 1,763.50 feet (2.970 TMC). 900 cusecs per second were entering Osman Sagar from the upstream. In this reservoir, the water level is 1,785.70 feet as opposed to the FTL of 1,790 feet. According to officials, Osman Sagar's gates would also be opened to let the extra water out if the water level continues to increase. people who live near the musi river have been warned by the authorities. On saturday, T srinivas Yadav, a state minister, travelled to regions close to Hussain Sagar. He said that the lake was releasing 2,000 cubic seconds of water. According to the minister, encroachments close to nalas continue to be an issue, and the government will soon decide how to handle them.
