The Vigilance Team of Central Railway conducted a preventive checking operation at the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) office at Malkapur on the basis of secret information received on 22 May 2025. In this action, two persons were arrested after being found involved in touting activities.

During the investigation, the team caught two persons with an AC Tatkal ticket (worth Rs 3960/-) which was booked from Malkapur PRS itself. The arrested persons were identified as Sanjay Chandak (local kingpin) and 17-year-old associate prasad Kale. During interrogation, Sanjay Chandak confessed to having links with Mumbai-based notorious tout "Thakur", who is believed to be the mastermind of this entire touting network.

They were supplied to the broker

In further investigation, Sanjay Chandak willingly shared the information of the conversation he had with the Mumbai-based broker on WhatsApp, in which he had sent pictures of 182 JCR (Journey Cum Reservation) tickets booked from Malkapur PRS. These included 23 active tickets (Rs 1,61,535) and 159 pre-booked tickets (Rs 8,48,298), whose total value has been estimated at Rs 10,09,833. Chandak admitted that all these tickets were booked for illegal resale and were supplied to the Mumbai-based broker.

23 active tickets have been blocked with immediate effect

Both the accused have been handed over to the Inspector of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Malkapur for further legal action. In this case, an FIR has been registered under Section 143 of the Railway Act under CR No. 278/2025. 23 active tickets related to this touting scandal have been blocked with immediate effect. Further investigation of the case is underway by RPF Malkapur.
