US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Pakistan's Foreign minister Ishaq Dar in Washington and discussed cooperation against terrorism and increasing trade.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Pakistan's Deputy prime minister and Foreign minister Ishaq Dar in Washington on friday (July 25, 2025). The meeting was held to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. In a statement issued after the meeting, Rubio said that he thanked Ishaq Dar for his cooperation in maintaining the partnership against terrorism and regional stability. The two leaders also discussed increasing mutual trade and furthering cooperation in the mineral sector.

The US takes strict action against the terrorist organization TRF

This meeting has taken place at a time when just a few days ago, the US decided to declare 'The Resistance Front' (TRF) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and a Global Terrorist Organization (SDGT). TRF is considered to be a front organization of the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba. It is worth noting that TRF had taken responsibility for the terrorist attack in pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on 22 April, in which 26 innocent civilians lost their lives.

India-Pakistan relations are also included in the agenda

It was already clarified by pakistan that India-Pakistan relations would also be discussed during Ishaq Dar's visit to America. Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Shafqat ali Khan said on thursday (July 24, 2025), "There will also be an exchange of views on the India-Pak issue."

The US has long taken credit for mediating the ceasefire between india and pakistan, which india has rejected several times, but pakistan has recognised. Shafqat ali Khan said, "We are grateful to the US for its role in reducing tensions and making the ceasefire possible."

Accusation of pakistan of supporting terrorism

India has consistently accused pakistan of supporting terrorism. india says that the pakistan government and army are involved in cross-border terrorism and provide financial aid and safe havens to terrorist organisations.

After the pahalgam terror attack, india retaliated by launching Operation Sindoor. During this, prime minister Narendra Modi had said in his address, "India believes in tourism, while pakistan considers terrorism as tourism, which is very dangerous for the world."

He also said that terrorism has become a means of earning money for the pakistan government and army, and appealed to the Pakistani people to raise their voice against terrorism.
