Weapon systems branch approved for IAF for 1st time!!!

A special program has been organized on occasion of Indian air Force day in Chandigarh. For the first time, this event has been organized in a city outside Delhi-NCR. The air show happened at Sukhna Lake and before this air Force Chief vivek Ram Chaudhari also made many announcements related to the future of the air Force. One of these is the Weapon System Branch.


He said that the central government has approved the establishment of a Weapon Systems Branch. This is the first time after independence that a new branch is being created in the air Force. This will help the government save more than Rs 3,400 crore by cutting the cost of flight training.

 

What is Weapon System Branch?

Till now there are only three branches in the air Force - Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branch. Now the fourth branch will be Weapon System Branch. This branch will work as a weapon system in aircraft. The air Force Chief said that this branch will operate surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air missiles, and weapon systems in pilotless aircraft. He even said that with the creation of this branch, the expenditure on flight training will be reduced and due to this the government will save more than Rs 3,400 crore.


How does Flying Branch work?

The flying branch's job is to train fighter pilots, helicopter pilots and transport pilots.

How does the technical branch work?

This branch provides technical training. It has two sub-streams- Mechanical, and Electronics.

What is the work of the Ground Duty Branch?

This branch works for the management of the necessary resources for the air Force. It has five sub-streams – Administration, Accounts, Logistics, education and Meteorology.
