On Saturday, Income Tax inspectors searched the homes of two businesspeople in the old city. Teams from the I-T department descended on the homes of Shahnawaz, who purportedly runs a chain of function halls and is involved in real estate, and his family in the early hours of the morning. The I-T department personnel conducted simultaneous searches at the homes of Kohinoor Group of Companies Chairman Majeed Khan. According to reports, the Income Tax searches are related to the telangana elections.

On Saturday, tax inspectors searched the home of Shahnawaz, the owner of the real estate firm King's Group, in Hyderabad. The searches were carried out in the city's Falaknuma district. According to reports, Majeed Khan's home, the Managing director of real estate firm Kohinoor Group, was also searched. The Income Tax Department thinks that substantial sums of undeclared money are being funneled to a political party by businesses operating function halls and hotels under the names Kohinoor Group and King's Group.


During a vehicle search in the Gachibowli region of hyderabad on Thursday, police confiscated Rs 5 crore in undeclared cash from a car. The cash was then turned over to the Income Tax Department for further examination. As the telangana elections approach, both the police and the IT department are increasing their vigilance. A raid was carried out at the house of the owner of King's Garden in hyderabad in the most recent operation.
