Two important events took place in America on saturday (June 14). President Donald Trump's birthday and the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US Army. This historic occasion was celebrated with a grand military parade in Washington DC, but a major political controversy arose amid this celebration when congress leader jairam ramesh claimed that Pakistani army Chief General Asim Munir was invited as a 'guest' in the parade. The white house had to clarify on this.
Presence of many celebrities including trump in the grand military parade
A huge military parade was organized in the capital Washington DC on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US Army. Many high-profile diplomats and military officials including President donald trump participated in this parade. More than 6,000 American soldiers, more than 150 armored military vehicles and more than 50 fighter planes participated in this parade. It is estimated that more than Rs 350 crore was spent on this parade, which is also being criticized in the country.
Uproar over the claim of inviting the Pak army Chief
Senior congress leader jairam ramesh claimed in a social media post that Pakistani army Chief General Asim Munir was invited as a special guest in the US military parade. He called this alleged invitation a diplomatic and strategic setback for India. Ramesh said that this is the same General Munir who made provocative statements before the pahalgam terror attack. He questioned the intention of America and said that such a step could affect India-US relations.
The white house called the claims 'false and misleading'
On Sunday, the white house completely denied these speculations by issuing an official statement. A senior US official clearly said, "No foreign military officer was invited to the military parade. This claim is completely false."
After this clarification from the white house, BJP accused jairam ramesh of spreading lies and being motivated by hatred towards prime minister Narendra Modi. bjp IT cell chief amit Malviya said that Ramesh posted misleading posts under a political agenda without verifying the facts.
