The bharatiya janata party on tuesday once again appointed manmohan Samal as the president of the odisha state unit. His reappointment was formally announced by the party's central election observer, Sanjay jaiswal, in the presence of senior leaders at the state office in Bhubaneswar.


The bjp has reappointed manmohan Samal as the president of the odisha state unit. Earlier on Monday, he filed nomination papers for the post of president of the odisha unit. He was the only candidate to file a nomination on this. BJP's central election observer Sanjay jaiswal announced Samal's reappointment to this post in the presence of senior leaders at the party's state headquarters.


Earlier on Monday, manmohan Samal filed nomination papers for this post before the odisha bjp election Officer and mp Pratap Sarangi in the presence of chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the party's central observer Sanjay jaiswal, and other senior leaders. He was the only leader to file nomination papers for the post of president of the odisha unit of the bharatiya janata party (BJP). Apart from Samal, many other leaders also filed their nomination papers for the post of the bjp National Council member.

Under his leadership, the naveen Patnaik-led Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was defeated in the odisha assembly elections in 2024. At the same time, in odisha, the bjp won 20 out of 21 lok sabha seats in the state and formed the government in the state by securing an absolute majority in the state assembly.


In the 147-member odisha assembly, the bjp won 78 seats, while naveen Patnaik's BJD got 51 seats. Congress got 14 seats, independents got three, and the CPI(M) got one seat. Samal, however, lost the assembly elections from Chandbali constituency in Bhadrak district. He has earlier been the state bjp president thrice from november 1999 to october 2000, october 2000 to May 2004, and march 2023 to July 2025.
