After a delay, the defamation trial of johnny depp and Amber Heard resumed on May 16 for the fifth week. The ex-couple is battling it out in a Fairfax, virginia courtroom over a USD 50 million defamation claim Depp filed against the Aquaman actress. Amber had previously stated during the court hearing that Warner Bros. had reduced her part as Mera in Aquaman. The head of DC Films, which made Aquaman, has now testified that the creative team was worried about Amber Heard's position in the sequel. They said she didn't have chemistry with her co-star Jason Momoa.

Amber Heard debuted as Mera in Zack Snyder's Justice League before moving on to a larger role in james Wan's solo film Aquaman. The president of DC Films, Walter Hamada, testified in the Amber-Johnny Depp lawsuit. He claimed that the studio has no plans to cast her as a co-lead in Aquaman 2. He also stated that Amber's position in Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom was not diminished.

"The amount of her film role was set during the script's early development, which would have occurred in 2018, I believe. The character's role in the plot was pretty much the same from the start "In the deposition, Hamada testified. "The movie was created around the characters of Arthur and Orm from the beginning of the script's creation. Orm is Patrick Wilson, while Arthur is Jason Momoa. They were always the film's co-leads."
