Nayanthara has solidified her position as tamil cinema's most successful and gifted leading woman, garnering the moniker "Lady Superstar" from fans and industry insiders. She lives up to her title, with a significant fan base across Kollywood. So it comes as no surprise that Nayanthara charges one of the largest compensation packages per film part, which is in keeping with both her fan base and overall star power on screen.

Because of her hard and extremely difficult path, the actress has accomplished more than her peers in her profession. She began her career as a newbie in tamil film, but with hard work and determination, she has risen to become one of India's most sought-after actors. Nayanthara began her career in 2003 with the malayalam film Manassinakkare, directed by sathyan Anthikad. The film, which starred jayaram and mollywood veteran actress Sheela, was a huge hit, especially among family viewers. Surprisingly, it was director sathyan Anthikad who changed her name from Diana Mariam Kurian to Nayanthara.

Nayanthara aspired to success in tamil film after her early malayalam performances. She went on to feature in two more malayalam films, Vismayathumbathu and Natturajavu, both directed by Mohanlal. Nayanthara then made her kollywood debut in 2005, co-starring with Sarathkumar in the tamil film Ayya. This marked her shift from supporting actress to leading woman in tamil cinema.
