Memories of the first Taliban regime twenty years ago are horrific. women were barred from going to work and were not allowed to go out without a male companion, and staged a tyrannical regime that dragged the country back centuries as a ban on the forced execution, the numerous executions carried out on football fields, music, television, and photography. This rule of the Taliban is not accepted by most of the Muslim people of the world. They knew they would bring great harm to the Islamic community.
Islamic extremism has never influenced indian Muslims. Today most Islamists do not accept the hardline ideology of the Taliban. They want to join the mainstream and advance in education, the economy and gender equality. But some Islamists are trying to be proud of the Taliban's victory, which has drawn strong criticism from many quarters. This is an opportunity for Islamophobia to spread. The identity of the Islamists who are being hunted down all over the world may be mentally satisfied with the seizure of a state power somewhere in the world in the name of Islam. But this is not going to do any good to the Islamists. If the Taliban engage in terrorist activities in afghanistan or anywhere else in the world tomorrow, the entire Islamist community will be held accountable. Subject to the democratic and human rights principles of civilized, international society, indian Muslims will celebrate their victory after the Taliban completely change their ideology to the detriment of themselves.
