There are about 26 lok sabha seats in Purvanchal, which include Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Azamgarh, Ballia, Ghosi, Ghazipur,

Chandauli, Kushinagar, Deoria, Salempur, Mirzapur, Robertsganj, Ambedkarnagar, Jaunpur etc. In 2019, bjp had to face

defeat on seats like Ghosi, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Jaunpur, Ambedkar Nagar. Among these, BSP had won in Ghosi, Ghazipur,

Jaunpur and Ambedkar nagar, while SP had won in Azamgarh. Immediately after the elections, the alliance of BSP and SP

broke, after which SP started strengthening itself in this belt of BSP. In the survey of ABP and Matriz in march 2023, bjp was

shown leading in 18 out of 26 seats of Purvanchal.

SP was predicted to get only 3 seats as compared to BJP. In the 2022 assembly elections, SP had won unilaterally on all the

seats of Ghazipur, Ambedkar nagar and Azamgarh. Whereas the party's performance was much better in Ballia, Mau and

Jaunpur. It is being said that SP is trying to win about 12-14 out of 26 seats in Purvanchal. In 2004, SP had won 7 seats in

Purvanchal and in 2009, 6 seats.

Discussion on implementation of upper caste candidate plus PDA strategy on these seats

The formula of winning through PDA equation by giving upper caste candidates can be applied on many seats of Purvanchal

in the 2024 elections. The main reason for this is BJP's strategy to break into the vote bank by mobilizing backward Dalits

and Muslims. Ballia, Deoria, Ghosi, Ghazipur and Ambedkar nagar are prominent among the seats where Ghosi's victory

formula is said to be implemented. It is being said that the equation of these lok sabha seats is also like that of Ghosi

Assembly.

Akhilesh also hopes to get help from the new strategy of Congress. congress has recently handed over the command of UP

to ajay Rai of Bhumihar community. In Purvanchal, Bhumihars dominate Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Ballia and

Ghosi seats. Similarly, Rajput voters are very influential in Ballia and Gorakhpur seats and Brahmin voters are very

influential in seats like Varanasi, Kushinagar, Deoria. In 2019, bjp got upper caste votes in bulk in Purvanchal. In 2019, 8

leaders of the upper caste community from Purvanchal had won and reached Parliament, out of which 6 leaders were from

BJP. bjp had also given ticket to Manoj Sinha, who comes from the upper caste community, but he lost the election.
