ISKCON has expanded rapidly in the last 50 years. Also, during this time, ISKCON has emerged as a major

religious organization in the world. ISKCON has 500 big centres, temples and rural communities around the

world. Apart from this, there are also 100 vegetarian restaurants associated with it. ISKCON has millions of

members all over the world. Sri Prabhupada founded the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust in 1972. According to

ISKCON, it is one of the largest publishers of books on Lord Krishna.

Sri Prabhupada translated more than 40 volumes of krishna literature from sanskrit to english between 1966

and 1977. These include books like Shrimad Bhagwat or Bhagwat Purana, 18 volumes of the history of the

incarnation of Lord Krishna, Leelas and Bhakts. Later he popularized the mantra Hare krishna Hare Krishna

Krishna krishna Hare Hare, Hare ram Hare ram ram ram Hare Hare across the world. ISKCON describes

itself as an organization that believes in the teachings of Lord krishna and its members and devotees remain

engrossed in the devotion of Lord Krishna. INSCON belongs to the Godiya-Vaishnava sect, a monotheistic

tradition in Hindu culture. Lord krishna is worshiped in this tradition.

What is the work of ISKCON members?

ISKCON members practice Bhakti yoga in their homes. They also offer prayers in temples and promote

consciousness towards Lord krishna through yoga seminars, festivals, public chanting and literature distribution.

Schools, colleges, eco-villages, free food distribution and other institutions have also been opened by ISKCON.
