Maharashtra Forest and culture minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on friday said that if leader of Opposition in the
State assembly Vijay Wadettiwar is holding him responsible for the resignation of backward classes Commission
Chairman Justice (retd) anand Nirgude, then he is a complete liar. In an informal conversation with reporters at
Suyog Niwas, Mungantiwar targeted Wadettiwar. During the session of maharashtra assembly, journalists coming
from outside nagpur are accommodated in Suyog Niwas.
Sudhir Mungantiwar said this
Mungantiwar said, “If Wadettiwar is holding me responsible for Nirgude leaving his post, then he is a complete
liar. If the person spreading such falsehoods is the leader of the opposition, then what can I say? He said, I have
never met Nirgude nor shared the stage with him. How can I insult him when I have not met him? It is
disappointing that such allegations are being leveled against me. Wadettiwar had on thursday claimed that a
Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) minister, who hails from Vidarbha, had insulted Nirgude, following which he had
launched a campaign against the state backward class. Resigned from the post of Chairman of the Commission.
What did congress leader Wadettiwar say?
Earlier on Tuesday, congress leader Wadettiwar had claimed that the members of the State Backward Classes
Commission are being threatened and pressure is being put on them to resign. He also said that former judge
Nirgude had resigned from the post of chairman of the commission on december 4 and the government had
accepted it on december 9. Wadettiwar spoke informally to reporters in nagpur on Thursday. The congress leader
said, “A bjp minister from Vidarbha first greeted Nirgude and suggested him to include a community in the Other
Backward Classes. Nirgude expressed his inability to follow his instructions.
Wadettiwar claimed, “The minister used extremely derogatory and defamatory words against him. Nirgude
immediately left the place and tendered his resignation.” When Wadettiwar was asked the name of the minister, he
said, “Every war is not a war.” I am Wadettiwar. When asked whether he was referring to state government
minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, he avoided giving a direct answer and did not deny it.
