The dates of lok sabha elections in the country have been announced. Voting is to be held in the hill state of himachal pradesh on june 1 in the seventh and last phase. Till now Himachal congress has not been able to select candidates for the lok sabha elections. After the meeting in the state, top leaders of Himachal have left for Delhi. There will be an important meeting in delhi regarding the selection of candidates. congress also has to select candidates for the by-elections to be held in six assembly constituencies in Himachal Pradesh.

Meeting with top leaders in Delhi

Chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has reached delhi from maharashtra after the Bharat Jodo Nyaya yatra led by rahul Gandhi. Apart from this, Himachal congress President Pratibha Singh has also left for Delhi. The decision on selection of candidates will be taken by sitting with top congress leaders in Delhi. Initially, there was talk of betting on a sitting mla, but due to the situation arising after the rajya sabha elections in the state, its chances have become negligible. In such a situation, congress can field new candidates during the lok sabha elections.

congress has already defeated the sitting MLAs by contesting the elections.

In the 2019 lok sabha elections, congress had fielded only sitting MLAs on three out of four seats. However, this did not bring success to Congress. bharatiya janata party won all four seats. congress had fielded Dhaniram Shandil from Shimla, ram Lal Thakur from hamirpur and Pawan Kajal from Kangra. All these three sitting MLAs had to face defeat in the lok sabha elections. Ashray Sharma, who contested Mandi elections from congress, also lost the election. It is noteworthy that Pawan Kajal, who contested the elections on congress ticket from Kangra, joined bjp before the 2022 assembly elections and now he is the bjp mla from Kangra.
