Sahar police of mumbai arrested two Bangladeshi nationals at mumbai International airport for trying to travel to norway via jeddah using fake passports. The accused have been identified as Subroto Kalipad Mandal and Mita Gourpad Biswas, who were caught during immigration check.

According to the Sahar police officer, both the persons are from Khulna and Gopalganj districts of Bangladesh, they allegedly entered india illegally through West bengal six years ago and were living in kolkata since then. During their stay, both of them managed to obtain indian passports for themselves and their child in 2024 using forged documents.

Entered india illegally in 2020                       

police said that around 12:30 am on june 1, the couple along with their child reached mumbai International airport for immigration clearance, they were to catch a 2:30 am flight to jeddah, from where they were to go to Norway. However, during routine checking, Immigration Officer Umesh Dattatreya Nimbalkar got suspicious about their passports, after further questioning by senior immigration officials, the couple confessed to being Bangladeshi citizens who had entered india illegally in 2020.

Successful in getting indian passport in 2024

They revealed that their child was born in kolkata in 2023 and with the help of an agent named Nabonita, they were successful in getting indian passport in 2024, they also revealed that they had secured visa for norway and were trying to leave the country when they were caught. Following the instructions of the immigration officials, the two contacted their relatives in Bangladesh, who helped confirm their real identity. Once their Bangladeshi origin was confirmed, the immigration officials handed them over to the Sahar police. Further investigation is underway in the case.
