Commenting on the death of the Namakkal girl, Edappadi Palaniswami has said that the DMK has lost its moral right to rule. AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has commented on the death of a Namakkal girl after eating shawarma and has criticized that DMK has lost its moral right to continue in power. A 14-year-old girl died after eating shawarma in a fast food restaurant in Namakkal district. And 20 more people who ate in that restaurant fell ill and were admitted to the hospital.
A student of Namakkal government Medical college gave a treat to 10 friends at the same restaurant to celebrate her birthday on Sunday. They have also been admitted to the hospital this morning due to vomiting, fainting, diarrhea and fever. In this regard, AIADMK General Secretary and Legislative assembly Leader of Opposition Edappadi Palaniswami has criticized the DMK as having lost its moral right to rule. He said on Twitter:
"I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of a 13-year-old girl, Kalaiyarasi, who ate shawarma in Namakkal. My deepest condolences to the family of the deceased girl. There are also reports that 17 other people who ate shawarma in the same shop are receiving treatment. Looking at the recent deaths in tamil Nadu, one can feel that this government has completely failed in ensuring food safety and controlling diseases like dengue.
Strongly condemning this government which acts without any concern for human lives, I would like to state that this government has lost its moral right to continue in power by failing to protect the basic needs of public health." Namakkal district collector Uma personally visited the restaurant and inspected it. Then, it was revealed that spoiled meat was used in that restaurant. Apart from that, the shawarma making machine was also dirty.
As a result, collector Uma immediately ordered to seal the restaurant. And from there food sample has been collected and sent for testing. Due to this, sale of shawarma has been temporarily banned in Namakkal district.
