Union minister Rajeev chandrasekhar praised Google's decision to develop Chromebooks in India. Under the indian government's Make in india programme, world's leading technology giants google and hp have joined hands. The two have jointly started manufacturing Chromebooks in India. In a post on social media platform 'X' on Monday, google CEO Sundar Pichai said, “We have partnered with hp to manufacture Chromebook in India. These are the first Chromebooks made in India. It will also facilitate access to affordable and secure computing for indian students. india is progressing rapidly in electronics manufacturing.

The Chromebook device is manufactured at the Flex plant near Chennai. hp has been manufacturing a range of laptops and desktops since august 2020. hp Chromebook production will begin in october 2023 and will primarily meet the demand for affordable personal computers (PC) in the education sector.
