As per IT Rules 2021 whatsapp has banned more than 2.3 million (2,328,000) accounts in the month of August.

It is not that the company has banned so many accounts for the first time. Even before this, the platform had banned almost the same number of objectionable accounts in india in July and instructed people not to violate the rules.
