In that regard, Hyderabad-based Ananth Technologies has received permission to launch India's first private satellite broadband internet service. The project has been approved by IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Center). The project is expected to be launched in 2028. These are entirely Indian-made satellites.
This initiative is seen as a direct competition to global companies like Starlink, OneWeb, and Amazon's Kuiper. anand Technologies has taken the important place of being the first private indian company to be allowed to provide space-based internet services using Indian-made satellites. This service is planned to be launched by 2028. Through this, broadband internet services will be provided directly from space across India. In particular, rural and remote areas with no or limited internet access will benefit the most. This service will use a satellite operating in a geostationary orbit located at an altitude of 35,000 km above the Earth. A satellite in this type of orbit will remain fixed over a specific location on the Earth. Thus, internet service for that area can be provided uninterrupted and continuously. This project has been accredited by IN-SPACe, which empowers private space companies in India. This is to open up India's space sector to private companies and encourage new innovations and faster growth. So far, only foreign companies have provided or plan to provide space-based internet services in India. For example, Elon Musk's Starlink, OneWeb, and amazon Kuiper. Now, with Anant Technologies entering the space, india has a unique company in this key technology.

Anant Tech plans to invest around Rs 3,000 crore to complete the project. It aims to provide high-speed internet service to all parts of india, even in places where there are no regular mobile towers or fiber cables. This is expected to improve education, healthcare, business, and communication in rural areas. However, the company has not yet announced an exact launch date. It is noteworthy that the satellite work and service planning are already underway.

Last month, vodafone Idea (Vi) formed a partnership with a US-based company called AST SpaceMobile. Through this, satellite phone services will be available directly from ordinary smartphones in India. AST SpaceMobile is building the world's first cellular internet network that runs entirely from space. It is planned to serve the business and government sectors. A statement issued by vodafone Idea said, "Vi and AST SpaceMobile have formed this alliance with the aim of expanding mobile internet in unconnected, remote areas of India. AST SpaceMobile has successfully demonstrated the capabilities of their technology by making the first-ever voice and video call from space using ordinary mobile phones."
