On this request of Shahbaz Sharif, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the US will cooperate with india in the fight against terrorism and pakistan should support india in the investigation of the pahalgam attack.
Shahbaz Sharif claimed in front of Marco Rubio that pakistan has sacrificed more than 90 thousand people in the fight against terrorism, while it has suffered a loss of more than one and a half billion dollars. Marco Rubio spoke separately to Foreign minister Dr. S. jaishankar and Shahbaz Sharif on wednesday (April 30, 2025) amid tension between india and Pakistan.
Marco Rubio urged both countries to exercise restraint, and reaffirmed his commitment to cooperate with india against terrorism. In his conversation with jaishankar, Rubio expressed grief over the loss of lives in the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in this attack.
A statement issued by State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that Marco Rubio reaffirmed America's commitment to cooperate with india against terrorism. He also asked india to work with pakistan to reduce tensions and maintain peace and security in South Asia.'
Rubio, in a conversation with pakistan prime minister Shahbaz Sharif, stressed the need to condemn the terrorist attack in pahalgam on april 22 and urged Pakistani authorities to cooperate in the investigation of this inhumane attack. He urged pakistan to work with india to reduce tensions, re-establish direct communication and maintain peace and security in South Asia.

A press release issued by the Prime Minister's office of pakistan said that Shahbaz Sharif apprised the US Secretary of State of Pakistan's perspective on recent developments in South Asia following the pahalgam terrorist attack.
The release said that Shahbaz Sharif highlighted Pakistan's significant contribution in the global fight against terrorism and claimed that the country has lost more than 90,000 lives (in the fight against terrorism) and suffered economic losses of over US $ 152 billion.'
