School New admission Rules: No admission below 6 years?


National education Policy- The rules of admission in schools are changing. The central government has banned the admission of children below the age of 6 years in class-1. This step has been taken under the National education Policy (NEP 2020). The central government has ordered all the states and union territories to change their admission rules accordingly. With this, the minimum age of admission in class-1 in the whole country will be fixed at 6 years. Officials of the Union Ministry of education informed about this change on Wednesday.

These are the stages of admission in the new education policy

The central government had fixed the stages of school admission in the New education Policy. According to education ministry officials, according to this policy, the basic stage of learning for children between the ages of 3 and 8 years includes five years of learning. For the first three years i.e. taking admission at the age of 3 years, pre-schooling class (play group, nursery, KG) till the age of 6 years, then at the age of 6 years, admission in the first class and at the age of seven years, in the second class. For children who are found to be weak in pre-schooling, the age of admission to class II will be 8 years.
