Shruti Haasan started working for her tamil movie titled 'Laabam' in 2019. The team also wrapped up the shooting in the same year itself. However, there were lots of post-production works. The movie also struggled to see the daylight due to the unexpected Corona pandemic. The director of the movie SP Jananathan took his last breath due to brain fever and the movie faced a pause in the post-production works.

The movie has music composed by D.Imman and yesterday evening the team released the second single track 'Yaamili Yaamiliyaa'. The movie is funded by 7Cs Entertainment Pvt Ltd and vijay sethupathi Productions banner together as a joint venture. jagapathi babu essays the role of antagonist in this venture. This is the first time shruti haasan pairs with vijay Sethupathi.
Shruti Haasan earlier confirmed that 'Laabam' will release at the Ramadan
festival or during Summer. But now again the
movie is postponed as there are
zero chances of theaters getting reopened in the near future. The team doesn't want to release the
movie on any OTT platforms as this is the last directorial venture of Late
director SP Jananathan. The release date will be revealed once things get back to normal.
