My parents were not happy that I was leaving my job as a heart surgeon in America and shifting to india, which is the dream of every Indian. I had a lot of opportunities, a lot of friends and the opportunity to head a hospital. But I can operate on 3-5 patients at the most with open-heart surgery. Maybe 500 patients a year.'
Dr Nene said that he was interested in technology from a young age. He started a software company at the age of 14. His parents encouraged him to become a doctor or an engineer. But after working in the medical field for 2 decades, he thought of a future where healthcare could be enhanced through media and technology.
In 2011, he quit his practice as a heart surgeon. His decision shocked everyone. Initially, his parents were not supportive. But when his start-up saw success, his parents' attitude changed.
