By the time theaters open in hyderabad, you may find some of your favorite or familiar theaters no longer existing. That is the mayhem COVID-19 has inflected on the theater business. In hyderabad alone, at least fifteen theaters are going out of business, and the number may only increase going further.

Amba (Mehedipatnam), Galaxy (Tolichowki), Sai Raja (Musheerabad), Sri Rama (Bahadurpura), Shanti (Narayanaguda), sree Mayuri (RTC X Roads), Venkatadri (Dilsukhnagar), Megha (Dilsukhnagar), and sushma (Vanasthalipuram) are some of the theaters which will never re-open.

Some of the theaters are becoming amazon warehouses and some are becoming function halls. One theater is leased to a car Showroom. As fate would have it, the advent of the OTT platforms led by amazon Prime Video played a crucial role in the downfall of the single theaters but Amazon's e-commerce arm came to rescue some of the theater managements by acquiring them as warehouses. This development has come at a time when the telangana government agreed to re-open the theaters with 50% occupancy. The state government also promised to extend many incentives to the struggling film industry. That means those announcements did not infuse confidence in the theater managements.
