Hello, Members

I opposed the strike from the start, but I agreed after hearing that it would be good for the producers and the industry. To support the cause, I halted my shoots in progress, and together with other members, I suffered significant losses. Approximately 10 days have passed since the strike started, and I still lack knowledge of the problems that my fellow members of the business have brought up.

What follows is my perspective on the topics raised by the members.

1. OTT Release

The issue at hand is how the theatrical sales are being impacted by movies being released on OTTs two weeks after their separate theatrical debuts. The truth is that many Active Producers guild members have already sold to OTTs through 2023. How has the decision to delay selling movies to online streaming services until eight weeks after their theatrical debut benefited the producers? Since hindi Dubbing, OTT, and satellite are covering 60–70% of the expenditures, they will not be able to sell their movies for the price they want to and will therefore theoretically be losing money. Holding back will only result in losses that you inflict on yourself. Why would you do this when the strike's entire purpose is to gain?

2. TICKET VALUE?

With the greatest of intentions to provide the audience with a fantastic product, producers select screenplays. The producer may also decide to raise budgets in accordance with the plot and the market for the Hero. The producers are more impacted by ticket prices than exhibitors, who are less affected by them. The price increases are not being made by the exhibitors. Flexi ticket pricing is under the producers' control, as it ought to be. What more are we trying to convey about this now that we're on strike?
