What is the teacher recruitment scam?

When SSC issued the notification for this recruitment in 2014, Partha Chatterjee was the education Minister. The recruitment process started in 2016. Many applicants had filed a petition in the high court alleging rigging in the recruitment process. After this, in 2022, the high court handed over its investigation to the CBI. Later the ED investigated and arrested Partha Chatterjee on the angle of money laundering.

The petitioners had alleged that candidates who had low marks were placed higher in the merit list. There were also some complaints in which it was said that some candidates got the job even though their names were not in the merit list.
