Strangely, Christian Bale's adversary, Gorr the god Butcher, isn't featured in the Thor: love and Thunder trailer at all, and all signs point to a good reason for this. After a lengthy wait, the trailer for Thor: love and Thunder has finally arrived, providing a first look at the film and its plot, including Natalie Portman's Thor holding Mjolnir. Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, the future MCU film will continue Thor's saga while also introducing a number of new characters to the ever-expanding series.

Russell Crowe's Zeus and Christian Bale's Gorr the god Butcher are among the new characters in Thor: love and Thunder, though the trailer showed little about either. Despite a quick glimpse of Zeus, there was no clear trace of Gorr the god Butcher in the Thor: love and Thunder trailer, nor was there any overt allusion to his role in the tale. Instead, the spotlight was on chris Hemsworth's Thor and his role in the Guardians of the Galaxy post-Endgame.

Gorr's omission from the trailer is notable, particularly in terms of how it depicts the plot of Thor: love and Thunder. The trailer's focus on Thor makes no mention of any villains, which appears to be a cunning method of following the marketing strategy set by Thor: love and Thunder thus far. Thor: love and Thunder has received very little publicity in compared to other MCU films, and Gorr's absence from the trailer is another example of the film's marketing subverting expectations.
