China said on wednesday that Washington was "shifting the blame" by claiming that the COVID-19 outbreak started in the united states rather than in Wuhan. The announcement was made in reaction to recent allegations by the US government that the virus most likely originated in a wuhan, china, laboratory.

China responded that the united states had "shamelessly politicized" the origins of the virus.

In a white paper, Chinese officials stated, "Substantial evidence suggested the Covid-19 might have emerged in the united states earlier than its officially-claimed timeline, and earlier than the outbreak in China."  Beijing has always maintained that a lab leak is "extremely unlikely," according to the publication, which cited a joint World health Organization (WHO)-China research.

"The US government, instead of facing squarely its failure in response to COVID-19 and reflecting on its shortcomings, has tried to shift the blame and divert people's attention by shamelessly politicizing SARS-CoV-2 origins tracing," stated the Chinese government.  Rather than "pretend to be deaf and dumb," they advised the United States.

According to the white paper, Washington avoided accountability and made an effort to divert attention from its poor pandemic management.  "The US should cease from shifting blame and evading responsibility, stop finding external excuses for its internal malaise, and genuinely reflect on and overhaul its public health policies," the letter stated.  They stated that "the US cannot continue to turn a deaf ear to the numerous questions over its conduct," according to Fox News.

The White House's decision earlier this month to redesign its COVID.gov website was followed by the strongly worded document.  In addition to criticizing previous US authorities including Dr. Anthony Fauci and former President Joe Biden, the revised website promotes the idea that COVID-19 spilled from the wuhan Institute of Virology, calling it the "most likely" origin.

"A lab-related incident involving gain-of-function research is most likely the origin of COVID-19," the white house section has been modified to state.  Additionally, it claims that the way such research is currently supervised is "incomplete, severely convoluted, and lack[s] global applicability."

According to the new US position, evidence of a natural origin should have emerged by now, citing biological characteristics of the virus that are purportedly absent from nature.  According to CNN, the website also mentions a previous lawsuit that led to a $24 billion ruling against china for allegedly hiding the early epidemic and storing protective gear.

The CIA changed its opinion earlier this year, stating that there was "low confidence" that the epidemic most likely began in a laboratory.  It concluded that both natural and laboratory origins are still conceivable.

The US should be the primary focus of the next round of COVID-19 origin tracking, according to a representative of China's National health Commission.
