When a young man named Rehan improperly grabbed a female during the ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat in varanasi on the evening of april 28, the devotees rebelled against him. But he said that his Muslim identity was the reason he was beaten. He said that before the attack, someone asked for his name. Given the delicate nature of the situation, the police started an inquiry.

However, the police became suspicious of the man's behavior and forwarded the case to the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) after reviewing CCTV data.  There are hints that an attempt was made to present the matter in a religious context.  After investigating the ghat, the ATS squad confiscated the CCTV footage.  At the hospital, they attempted to speak with him but were unable.  The young person in the hospital will be questioned by authorities about three specific issues:

The youth's home is in Chaurahat Padav, which is around 12 kilometers away from Dashashwamedh Ghat.  What made him go so far?

The event was initially categorized as one girl being touched indecently, but it has subsequently grown to other girls being accused of molestation.  His presence at the ghat has been deemed suspicious by police.

The police are investigating why he was at the ghat at the exact moment of the ganga Aarti.  Was he a frequent guest?  Whose video was he using his cell phone to record?

In relation to the attack, the police have lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Hanuman Yadav, Sushant Mishra, and shivam Gupta.  Six to seven unnamed people are also connected to the incident.  At the moment, every suspect is avoiding capture.  In order to investigate, the cops also visited their home.

An ISI Connection?
Since Rehan is from the Chaurahat area, the ATS is actively investigating this issue.  Rashid ahmed was captured by ATS in the varanasi region of Chhittupur in january 2020.  After her divorce from her husband, his mother remained at her maternal house in Chaurahat Padav, Chandauli.  Rashid worked as a poster maker and lived with her as well.  He made two trips to his aunt's home in Pakistan.

Rashid's family urged him to seek a position with the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) when he fell in love with his aunt's daughter.  After visiting his aunt's house in Karachi in 2018, he made contact with the ISI.  He started using his cell phone to take pictures of CRPF and military sites in Chandauli in 2019 and submitted them to the organization.  In the espionage case, Mohammad Rashid was convicted guilty by the special NIA (National Investigation Agency) court in lucknow on march 5.
