In the middle of the mounting anticipation for Kushi, the cast and crew of the movie put on a musical performance to generate hype. But along with the enthusiasm, many rumours about the movie started to spread, mainly around the pay of the performers, including director shiva Nirvana. The claimed compensation amounts—Vijay earned Rs. 23 crores, samantha received Rs. 4.5 crores, while director shiva Nirvana allegedly received Rs. 12 crores—were one piece of news that grabbed attention.

Shiva Nirvana, the director, swiftly addressed these rumours in an interview, firmly disputing the veracity of the alleged pay ranges. He recounted how shocked he was when he heard the news and how even his friends had called to ask him about it. shiva Nirvana continued by pointing out how inaccurate and pointless such reports might be. He made light of the fact that even his mother was surprised by the news of his pay and asked him about it.

Shiva Nirvana further disclosed that he did not accept payment for penning the songs for the movie. Each song on the audio CD was written by him. Although he did not specify the precise sum, industry rumours indicate that it may be in the neighbourhood of Rs. 5 crores. On september 1st, 2023, kushi will make its official debut.
