Holidays have been declared for all government and private schools in punjab from 23 to 26 August. Giving this
information in a tweet, education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that keeping in view the floods caused by
heavy rains in various districts of punjab including himachal pradesh, as per the instructions of Chief Minister
Bhagwant Mann, the punjab government has closed all government, aided, recognized schools in the state.
Public and private schools have declared holidays due to security reasons with immediate effect. Today, from 23
August to 26 august 2023, holidays are declared with immediate effect.
9 districts of the state in the grip of flood - The heavy rains in himachal pradesh have also created havoc in
Punjab. Due to the release of water from Bhakra and Pong dams, Beas and Satulj rivers are in spate. Because of
which Jalandhar, Moga, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Kapurthala, Rupnagar, Nawanshahar, Tarn Taran
districts of punjab are in the grip of flood.
5 days yellow alert in punjab - The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert in punjab for 5 days
from today. There is a possibility of moderate to light rain in some areas of Punjab. Due to which the
temperature is also going to change. Due to rain in some districts since 2 days, the temperature has dropped by
0.4 degree Celsius.
Red alert in 8 districts of Himachal - Let us tell you that the holidays for the schools of punjab have been done
only because of the rains in Himachal. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rains in 8
districts of himachal pradesh for the next three days. Because of which 2 days holiday has been done for
educational institutions there too. Apart from this, a flood alert has also been issued in the districts adjacent to
the river in Himachal.
