IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw denied the accusations made by a number of opposition politicians on Tuesday, stating that they were the target of an apple alert alerting them to "state-sponsored attackers trying to remotely compromise" their iPhones. The minister also promised a comprehensive investigation into the issue.

Congressman mallikarjun Kharge, party leaders Shashi Tharoor, Pawan Khera, KC Venugopal, supriya Shrinate, TS Singhdeo, and bhupinder singh Hooda, mp mahua moitra of the trinamool congress (TMC), General Secretary Sitaram Yechury of the CPI(M), and chief minister of the Samajwadi party (SP) were among those who received such notifications.

The communication from apple was also received by congress mp rahul Gandhi's aides, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, aam aadmi party (AAP) leader Raghav Chadha, and shiv sena (UBT) mp priyanka Chaturvedi.

Apple claimed in a statement that it "did not attribute the threat notifications to any specific state-sponsored attacker" as the dispute gained steam. The statement "the notifications may be false alarms" was added.

Although expressing worry and directing an investigation into the event, the government also mentioned that apple had released an advice in around 150 countries, although with a "vague" description.
