Hundreds of gold prospecting boats from illegally operating gold mines have stacked up on the Madeira River in the Amazon. Following allegations that gold mines exist in Brazil's amazon rainforest, gold hunters are scrambling for information. As the Glasgow Climate Change Conference vowed to safeguard the amazon rainforest, hundreds of boats lined up in the amazon rivers in search of gold. It has been said that for a long time, floating boats with pumps have occupied the whole Maderan River, exploiting river bottoms for gold.

For the past two weeks, more than 300 boats have been drifting down the river. However, according to Danielle Aguirre, a Brazilian Greenpeace activist, the government has taken no action. Since entering office in 2019, right-wing President Jair Bolzanora has been accused of weakening the environmental regulatory system and failing to discover illegal occupants and gold mining activities in the amazon jungle. The Madhera River is approximately 3,300 kilometres long.

There is a separation. On this river, the number of illicit excavation boats is steadily increasing. However, no action has been taken to stop the illicit gold hunting so far. The residents and inmates along the river are now scared due to this gold hunting and some people say they are just old man tales.
