Musk stated, "Today, the America party is formed to give you back your freedom," citing the findings of a recent survey he conducted that indicated a two-to-one popular preference for a new political alternative.
Musk criticized the present political system in his announcement, saying, "We live in a one-party system, not a democracy, when it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft."
Musk elaborated on his plans to oppose the US political establishment, which he refers to as a "uniparty" system, in a different post.
"The way we're going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: Extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield," he stated.
Musk asked followers in a poll he released on his platform X during the July 4 celebrations of US freedom Day: "This is the ideal time to ask if you want freedom from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system! Should the America party be established?
The result was clear-cut, with 65.4% of people selecting "Yes" and 34.6% selecting "No." Musk claimed that the launch was motivated by this tremendous support and framed it as a reaction to the public's mounting discontent with both main parties.
In recent weeks, tensions between Musk and trump have escalated, primarily due to Trump's expansive new legislation, known as the "One Big beautiful Bill," which Musk has harshly criticized and which passed both chambers of congress before becoming law on July 4.
Musk, who spearheaded cost-cutting initiatives through the Department of government Efficiency and previously held a significant advising position, criticized Trump's tax and spending package for potentially increasing the national debt by USD 3.3 trillion over the next 10 years.
