India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated the ongoing violence in Nepal, highlighting that New delhi is keeping a close watch on the situation.


  • The MEA expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of several young people during violent demonstrations that took place recently. It extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and conveyed prayers for the departed souls.


  • The statement also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the clashes, reflecting India’s concern for the well-being of the people of Nepal.

  • India, as a close friend and neighbor of Nepal, emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Himalayan nation.


  • The MEA urged all concerned parties to exercise restraint and to avoid further escalation of violence. It underlined that issues should be resolved through peaceful dialogue and democratic means, rather than confrontation.


  • The government of india acknowledged that the Nepalese authorities have already imposed a curfew in Kathmandu and several other major cities to bring the situation under control and restore normalcy.


  • Alongside this, the MEA issued a travel and safety advisory for indian citizens in Nepal. It requested them to:
    • Remain extremely cautious in light of the prevailing unrest.
    • Avoid crowded areas and public gatherings where violence might erupt.
    • Follow all instructions, restrictions, and guidelines issued by the Nepalese administration and local authorities.
    • Stay in regular contact with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu for assistance and emergency support.
  • The statement highlighted that india values its long-standing ties of friendship, culture, and people-to-people relations with Nepal. It reaffirmed that New delhi continues to hope for a peaceful resolution of disputes through consensus, ensuring that stability and harmony are restored at the earliest.
