While the Israeli-Hamas battle, which began on november 24, was prolonged for another day on thursday, a source close to the terror organisation told AFP that Hamas was eager to extend the truce further. During the seven-day break, scores of Israeli captives were exchanged for almost 200 Palestinian inmates.

The Hamas terror group has kidnapped roughly 240 individuals since its onslaught on Israel. According to the Hamas-controlled health Ministry in Gaza, more than 13,300 Palestinians have been killed since the war began. Nearly 1,200 people have been slain in Israel, the majority of them were killed during Hamas' initial onslaught.

According to a source close to Hamas, the terror group is "willing to extend the truce" in its conflict with Israel. This occurred just hours before the last cease-fire extension was about to expire. According to a person familiar with the matter, "The mediators are currently making strong, intense and continuous efforts for an additional day in the truce and then working to extend it again for other days."

Meanwhile, a top Israeli official has stated that the conflict would be restarted unless the Palestinian terrorist organisation agrees to free further hostages. Both sides welcomed the seventh day of a Qatari-mediated truce on thursday with the release of eight hostages and 30 Palestinian inmates, as well as the entry of additional humanitarian assistance into the damaged Gaza Strip.
