Workers at ford India Private Ltd's chennai facility have resumed manufacturing of the EcoSport for exporting, despite their low morale and the threat of job loss in front of them, according to an official. The corporation has a 30,000-unit export obligation that must be fulfilled before the end of the fiscal year. The workers' union has also requested a meeting with top ford executives responsible for the decision to close three of the firm's four facilities in India. 

"Production at the chennai plant is proceeding according to plan. The number of vehicles rolled out per day would vary depending on the production schedule "IANS spoke with a representative from the employees' union. "By the end of the year, the business needs to export around 31,000 cars. As a result, the administration has bribed workers to resume production while having negotiations about the plant's closure "Another worker, who did not want to be identified, told IANS that he preferred anonymity. 

On september 9th, a day before the ganesh chaturthi festival, ford India announced that car assembly in Sanand would be phased out by the fourth quarter of 2021, and vehicle and engine manufacture in chennai would be phased out by the second quarter of 2022. ford has four manufacturing facilities in India, including vehicle and engine operations in chennai and Sanand.
