Robert Pattinson, who plays Batman, reveals he was afraid to watch the final edit of the highly anticipated film. The Batman will feature the most recent incarnation of the Caped Crusader, as well as the first live-action depiction of the character outside of the DCEU since christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. The film will follow Batman as he attempts to track down The Riddler in his second year of crime-fighting (played by Paul Dano).
The Batman is a movie that has been in the works since 2013, with development dating back to that year. The film was originally supposed to focus on Ben Affleck's Batman from the DCEU. Affleck was even hired to direct the film himself. However, he dropped out of the production after having reservations about the picture. director Matt Reeves took his position, severing all ties to the DCEU. Production was able to continue in september 2020, but was abruptly interrupted three days later after Pattinson tested positive for COVID. The Batman is finally ready to hit theatres, nine years after it was initially imagined.
Pattinson said, "I was afraid to death. I haven't felt this nervous about releasing a film in a long time. In fact, it's been a long time since I've released a film! I mean, I'd seen the first 90 minutes in an IMAX theatre by myself before, and I knew they were fantastic. But I've developed this habit of realising that in order to watch my own stuff, I need to be in the ideal balance of serotonin, so I need to kind of...I need to work out for two hours prior, I need an incredible amount of sugar and coffee, and so, whatever I'm watching, I'm like, 'yeah!'"
