Taliban orders female journalists to wear hijab

The Taliban government has ordered a guideline that the television channels should stop telecasting soap operas and dramas having women actors. This means there will be no actresses or female artists in films or dramas hereafter. The Taliban also asked that the female journalists have to wear hijabs or headscarves while issuing their reports. This is their first directive by the Ministry for the promotion of virtue in making journalists wear hijabs.

It has also issued an order to stop telecasting programs or any films which have Prophet Mohammed in them. It has banned all movies or programs that are against Islamic values. Hakif Mohajir, the ministry spokesman has said to AFP that it is not a rule but should be followed as a religious guideline.

The social media network was flooded with this new directive on sunday evening. The Taliban government has said that they will be ruling moderately now without any hardships to people. There have been already rules about what women should wear in colleges and universities. They have also beaten many journalists despite their promise to give press freedoms.  Many Radio stations and channels had been set up after the Taliban government toppled since 2001.
