Reportedly it seems as if shikhar dhawan didn't spend any time away from the sport. The india opener took to social media to share a glimpse of his first outdoor training session following the novel coronavirus pandemic lockdown and he is hitting it as sweetly as ever. Training under lights, dhawan can be seen smashing the net bowlers to all parts of the ground. From switch hits to powerful straight drives, dhawan was in full flow during the training session. dhawan can also be seen slapping a wide bouncer over point, flaunting his form on return to training.
With the Board of Control for cricket in india (BCCI) preparing to host the indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the uae subject to approval from the indian government, india stars would want to be in shape before they join their teams for training camps. dhawan, who is expected to join the delhi Capitals camp in the lead up to IPL 2020, has not played competitive cricket since Australia's tour of india in january 2020.
While the likes of mohammed shami and Cheteshwar Pujara began training much earlier than their india teammates at private facilities in their respective hometowns, quite a few others, including suresh raina, rishabh pant and R Ashwin have started training outdoors. raina and pant have been training together at the former's facility in Uttar Pradesh while Ashwin was spotted doing some batting practice at the nets on Friday. It's not looking likely that Inda's senior national team players will have a separate training camp before IPL 2020 as teams are reportedly looking to fly out of india from the second week of August.
